Litecoin (LTC) a été fondé par Charlie Lee en 2011 et constitue une dérivée (ou « spinoff ») de Bitcoin. À l’instar de Bitcoin, Litecoin est une monnaie numérique pouvant être utilisée pour des transactions de pair à pair. Litecoin confirme les transactions toutes les 2,5 minutes, contre 10 minutes pour Bitcoin. Le nombre maximal de litecoins pouvant exister est de 84 millions.
