Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc. engages in the design and manufacture of aero structures for commercial and defense aircraft. It operates through the following segments: Commercial, Defense and Space, and Aftermarket. The Commercial segment designs and manufactures forward, mid, and rear fuselage sections which are related to floor beams, nacelles, struts and pylons, horizontal and vertical stabilizers, flaps and slats, and wing structures. The Defense and Space segment offers fixed wing aircraft aerostructures, missiles and hypersonic, and rotorcraft aerostructure. The Aftermarket segment includes development, production, and marketing spares and repair and overhaul services related to commercial and defense and space program. The company was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Wichita, KS.

Because Spirit doesn't own the intellectual property of the designs it works on, the company is vulnerable to future decisions taken by Boeing or Airbus to move to a different supplier or aircraft design. 

Spirit has considerable financial leverage from the pandemic and is susceptible to incremental shocks to aerospace and the Boeing supply chain in particular. 

Customer concentration with Boeing leaves Spirit vulnerable to unsystematic risk associated with production difficulties.

Spirit has somewhat diversified its customer base into defense and aftermarket services, which can make it less susceptible to customer-specific risk.

Spirit had the opportunity to benefit from operating leverage as production volumes of its primary product lines ramp up in coming years.

Commercial aerospace manufacturing has a highly visible revenue runway from increasing flights per capita as middle-class demand in emerging markets grows.
