With increasing duties from developed countries against Chinese imports, Chinese production is more quickly diverted to regions such as South America, the Middle East and Africa, increasing competition in highly profitable regions for Stellantis. 

Stellantis takes cost-cutting too far, with lower spending on marketing and research and development, risking market share.

Higher-than-usual industrywide pricing power following the covid pandemic was responsible for double-digit operating margins, not structural improvements. Margins will follow the usual cyclicality from the peak in 2023.

Volumes recover to pre-covid levels sooner than expected thanks to falling interest rates and slower price increases. 

Stellantis’ self-help initiatives more than offset pricing pressure, the dilutive mix shift to EVs, and possible regulatory penalties. The company maintains an adjusted operating margin of greater than 10%. 

Stellantis’ strategic decision to go with multienergy over BEV native platforms makes it more flexible through a slower-than-expected EV transition. A higher proportion of ICE vehicles for longer supports double-digit operating margin profitability.
