Limites d’investissement en cryptoactifs au Canada

Afin de contribuer à la sécurité et à la durabilité du marché des cryptoactifs, les organismes de réglementation canadiens (l’ACVM et l’OCRCVM) ont établi des « limites d’achat net » pour certaines cryptomonnaies. Ces limites s’appliquent à la plupart des plateformes de cryptoactifs exploitées au Canada, y compris Robinhood.

Comment fonctionnent les limites d’investissement

Une limite d’achat net est le montant maximal de cryptoactifs restreints que vous pouvez acheter sur une période de 12 mois glissants, moins le montant que vous vendez.

  • Achat net = (Achats totaux) - (Ventes totales)
  • La limite s’applique au coût des actifs au moment de l’échange, et non à leur valeur marchande actuelle

Cryptomonnaies restreintes

Ces limites ne s’appliquent pas à toutes les cryptomonnaies. Actuellement, les actifs « non restreints » suivants ne sont pas pris en compte dans votre limite :

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Litecoin (LTC)
  • Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
  • Solana (SOL)
  • USD Coin (USDC)

Tous les autres cryptoactifs disponibles sur la plateforme sont considérés comme des actifs restreints et soumises à la limite annuelle.

Si vous tentez de placer un ordre qui dépasse votre limite restante, l’application vous en avisera avant que vous ne balayiez l’écran pour confirmer l’échange.

FAQ

La limite est-elle réinitialisée le 1er janvier?

Non. Il s’agit d’une limite mobile sur 12 mois. Cela signifie que le montant qu’il vous reste est calculé en fonction de votre activité au cours des 365 derniers jours. Si vous avez acheté 1 000 $ CA d’une cryptomonnaie restreinte aujourd’hui, ces 1 000 $ CA seront de nouveau disponibles dans votre limite dans exactement un an à partir de maintenant.

Les ventes augmentent-elles ma limite?

Oui. Dans la mesure où il s’agit d’une limite d’achat net, la vente d’un actif restreint ajoute ce montant à votre limite disponible pour la période de 12 mois en cours.

Que se passe-t-il si le prix de ma cryptomonnaie augmente?

L’appréciation du prix n’affecte pas votre limite. Nous ne prenons en compte que la valeur en dollars canadiens de l’échange au moment de son exécution. Si vous achetez 10 000 $ CA d’une cryptomonnaie et que sa valeur passe à 50 000 $ CA, vous n’avez toujours utilisé que 10 000 $ CA de votre limite.
