Appropriateness Assessment FAQ
The Appropriateness Assessment helps us understand your investing knowledge and experience so we can provide the right information when you use certain products, including Stock Tokens and crypto perpetuals (“Products”). It’s required under European regulations and outlined in your Customer Agreement.
If the assessment isn’t completed and passed by 31 December 2025, your access to these products may be restricted.
European rules require investment firms to check whether certain products are appropriate for customers based on their knowledge and experience. The assessment helps us gather the information we need to offer these products responsibly and support you with relevant information.
Your Customer Agreement explains how we provide services and what information we may request from you. For some products, especially those with additional features or risks, we must confirm that you understand how they work before giving you access. The Appropriateness Assessment is one way we meet this obligation.
The assessment focuses on your experience with investments and your familiarity with the types of products you want to use. Every customer’s background is different, and your responses help us understand your level of knowledge so we can guide you appropriately.
Some products function differently from traditional shares and may involve unique risks. The assessment helps ensure you understand these differences before you invest.
The assessment is part of our commitment to transparency and responsible service. Along with the documents in our Disclosure Library, it helps make sure you’re informed when exploring different investment options.
If you’re new to Robinhood and want to access these products, you’ll need to complete the assessment first. You won’t be able to trade these products until it’s successfully completed and passed.
Completing the assessment is just the first step. Your results also need to show that the Product is appropriate for your level of knowledge and experience. If your answers suggest a Product may not be suitable for you, we may limit your access to it, even if the assessment is complete.
