Options performance FAQ

What does the options chart show?

The chart shows you an overview of your options performance for a given time period. Instead of showing the total market value, it tracks the live and historical returns of your positions. When you select a bar, you can view how much you made or lost on both the open and closed positions.

How is my performance calculated?

Your performance is calculated as the difference between the starting value and the ending value of the timeframe you choose. For example, in the 1-week view, each bar shows how your performance at the end of the day is compared to the beginning of that day.

What’s included in my open and closed positions?

Open positions are options that can still change in market value. They might be long calls, long puts, covered calls, cash-secured puts, and spreads.

Closed positions are options that:

  • You bought or sold to close an open position
  • Expired out of the money
  • Were exercised
  • You were assigned on

The values of open and closed positions are their returns during the selected time frame.
