Singpass

If you're a Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident, you can use Singpass to speed up your application. Singpass uses Myinfo to securely retrieve your verified personal information, such as your name, date of birth, NRIC, nationality, and registered address, directly from government records.

To sign up with Singpass:

  1. Select Retrieve MyInfo with Singpass when prompted during sign-up

  2. You'll be redirected to Singpass to log in and approve the data retrieval

  3. Please select I Agree to get re-directed to the Robinhood app

    a. For iOS: you’ll need to manually return to the Singpass webpage to select I Agree

    b. For Android: you’ll be re-directed to the Singpass webpage to select I Agree

  4. Once approved, your verified information will be pre-filled in your Robinhood application

Note

Information retrieved from Singpass cannot be edited in your application, with the exception of your mobile number. If any pre-filled information is incorrect, you'll need to update it with the relevant government agency. If you prefer not to use Singpass, you can choose to enter your information manually during sign-up.

Identify verification

During the application process, you'll need to verify your identity. The documents we accept depend on how you sign up:

Via Singpass (Singapore citizens and PRs):

  • Passport
  • Driver's licence
  • NRIC

Without Singpass:

  • Passport

You'll be prompted to take a photo of your ID and a selfie within the app to complete the verification.

Customer Account Review to trade Specified Investment Products

The Customer Account Review (CAR) is an assessment required by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for retail investors in Singapore who wish to trade Specified Investment Products (SIPs), such as US-listed ETFs, and options.

You may qualify based on:

  • A diploma or higher qualification in a finance-related field
  • Relevant work experience in the financial industry
  • Prior investment experience in SIPs (6 or more trades in Listed SIPs in the preceding 3 years)

If you don't qualify through the above, you can pass the SGX online learning module (a short knowledge quiz with a minimum passing score of 75%). You can retake the quiz if you don't pass on the first attempt.

Your CAR is valid for 3 years. We'll remind you when it's time to renew.

Note: You can still trade non-SIP products, like individual stocks and ADRs, without completing a CAR.
