As the option gets closer to expiry, its value tends to decrease given there's less time for the underlying price to move. Sensitive to price movements. Even a small change in the underlying can cause a big move in your options price. You might lose all of the premium. Early assignment. US stock options are American style and can be exercised any time before expiry. The seller of the option is required to fulfill the obligation.
