How to send in documents

We may ask you to send us a few documents to verify we have all the information we need for your Robinhood account. We’ll send details about which documents we need, why we need them, and how to submit them. Check out the following tips to successfully submit your documents and verify your account.

Submit your documents

Do the following to submit your documents through the app:

  1. When prompted to upload a document in the app, you’ll see instructions to take a photo of your document
  2. In Investing, select Take Photo Now
  3. Select the type of document (if applicable)
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to take a photo of your document

Submit a utility bill

Do the following to submit a PDF version of your utility bill in the app:

  1. When prompted to upload a PDF within the app, you’ll see instructions to submit it
  2. Download a recent PDF from your utility company’s app or website and save to your files
  3. Select Upload PDF
  4. Select the PDF to upload from your files
  5. Follow the instructions to submit your PDF

If we can’t read your PDF, we’ll send you tips for a successful submission.

Troubleshooting

Is your PDF file password protected?

If so, remove the password from your PDF and try again.

Is your file too large?

The file size limit is 10 MB. Reduce size by removing blank pages and compressing the PDF to the lowest size option available.

Is the file unreadable?

Try to download a new PDF.

National Insurance numbermobile appWe’ll need a photo of a tax document that shows your name and NIN. We can't accept a photo of a computer screen.
