Options trading hours

Most equity option contracts trade Monday–Friday (excluding holidays), 9:30 AM–4 PM ET (or 1 PM ET for half-days), when the market session closes for the day.

However, there are some underlying assets you can trade options on until 4:15 PM ET (these assets are determined by options exchanges). Index options also trade until 4:15 PM ET (Trading hours has details).

Keep in mind

For equity options, if you have expiration date trading enabled, you’ll have until 3:30 PM ET to open positions in same-day expiring contracts. We'll attempt to close out any expiring, at-risk positions starting at 3:30 PM ET. This standard closeout process doesn’t apply for index options.

Check out the full list of underlying assets whose option contracts are eligible to trade Monday-Friday until 4:15 PM ET.

Keep in mind

Generally the UK time is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Time (ET). However, between the second Sunday in March and the last Sunday in March, it is 4 hours and between the last Sunday of October and the first Sunday in November.
