Settlement and buying power
The settlement period is the time it takes stocks or cash to reach their new destination after a transaction is executed. Buying power is the amount of money you have available to make purchases in your account.
Stocks take 1 US trading day to settle. You’ll need to wait 1 US trading day to trade with funds from equity sales if you opted into a non-margin account. The default setting at onboarding is a margin account that allows you to trade with unsettled funds.
US bank holidays can affect settlement times.
All investments involve risks, including the loss of principal. Investors should consider their investment objectives and risks carefully before investing.
Securities trading is offered through Robinhood Financial LLC, member SIPC and FINRA.
