Financial Education

Robinhood is committed to better equipping the next generation of investors with digestible educational content.

Key points

  • Access to financial education is crucial for the next generation of investors.

  • Robinhood offers tools like Learn, along with in-app educational content, to make financial knowledge accessible and engaging.

  • Robinhood’s commitment is also exemplified through financial literacy programming and partnerships reaching student athletes, teachers and students, and military veterans, among others.

  • Robinhood supports state and federal policies that prioritize relevant financial literacy.

What we’ve seen

As millions of investors enter the markets and invest for the first time, financial education is more important than ever. Most of the activity on the Robinhood platform is self-directed, and we want to provide our customers with the right tools to help them make informed investment decisions. The more investors learn about investing, pay attention to their assets, and get involved in their finances, the better equipped they are to build for their financial futures. Every long-term investor was once a new investor, so we’re building educational tools to help our customers on their journeys—both in-app and through other avenues.

What we’re doing

We’ve introduced a number of programs specifically designed to bring valuable resources directly to individuals in their communities. These include nationwide crypto education workshops, retirement education workshops tailored for military veterans and small business owners, and initiatives to provide middle and high school teachers with the tools to teach personal finance effectively. Our Robinhood Money Drills Initiative is a first of its kind, large-scale program that aims to bring financial literacy to students and student athletes across the nation. We’re proud to partner with Howard University, Florida State University, Coastal Carolina University, University of California, Berkeley, Texas Christian University, University of Memphis, Kansas State University, West Virginia University and Duke University. We also work with the World Economic Forum to understand the values and needs of retail investors, as well as the U.S. Black Chambers and National ACE to support their efforts in understanding the importance of access to capital markets for small business owners, and with Operation HOPE we elevate the importance of access to technology for inclusive wealth building. Through our collaborations with National Bankers Association and National Association of Securities Professionals we deliver financial education resources and workshops to promote a more inclusive financial system. We also continuously expand our Learn Hub, a comprehensive library of educational articles designed to empower investors at every level. Topics range from foundational concepts, such as “What is a stock?”, to advanced discussions on trading strategies, portfolio management, and long-term financial planning, including saving for retirement.

For timely insights, our weekly blog, Investor’s Guild, authored by our Head of Investment Strategy, delves into current market trends and investment topics. It’s available both online and directly in the app, keeping investors informed and engaged.

Additionally, we produce a weekly live show, The Week That Was, available on YouTube. This show recaps the week’s market events and uses real-world examples to educate viewers on economic trends, earnings reports, and technical analysis.Lastly, our flagship educational event, HoodSummit, brought together investors for live, in-person sessions covering options trading, technical analysis, financial planning, and futures. To extend its impact, all sessions are now available on YouTube, providing accessible, high-quality educational content to even more customers.
