Politically exposed persons

A Politically Exposed Person (PEP) is someone who currently holds or previously held a high-profile public role, such as a government official, political leader, or senior executive in a state-run organization (Politically Exposed Positions). PEPs, their family members and their close associates must disclose that they are a PEP when creating an account with Robinhood Crypto and may be required to provide additional information prior to establishing a Robinhood Crypto account.

Family members

A family member of a PEP typically refers to individuals who are closely related to the PEP, usually by blood or marriage. This includes:

  • Spouse, partner, or cohabitant: Individuals legally married to or have established a registered partnership with the PEP.
  • Children: Biological or adopted children of the PEP, including adult children.
  • Parents: The PEP's mother and father.
  • Siblings: Brothers and sisters of the PEP.
  • Spouses, partners, or cohabitants of children: Individuals legally married to or in a long-term partnership with the PEP.

Close associates

A close associate of a PEP is:

  • A natural person who is a participant in the same legal entity or organisation without legal personality or maintains other business relationships with a person holding or having held the politically exposed position.
  • A natural person who is the sole beneficiary of a legal entity or an organisation without legal entity status established or operating de facto for the purpose of obtaining financial or other personal benefit for a person holding or having held a politically exposed position.
