Meet a Robinhoodie: Hanna Neisz

The “Meet a Robinhoodie” series is where we ask a Robinhood employee about their path to Sherwood Forest and why they joined.

Hanna Neisz is a Lead on the ACATs team based in Charlotte, NC. Now, let’s get to know her!

Why did you join Robinhood?

I joined Robinhood back in 2019 after working as a contractor for a few months after I graduated college. I first took the contracting job simply because I needed a full-time job since I was getting married soon, and I had never lived on my own or paid bills before then (thanks mom and dad). When the opportunity for a full-time role within Robinhood was offered to me, I was quick to take it since I had fallen in love with the culture, the people I worked with, and the mission to democratize finance for all. I felt like taking this job would allow me to be a part of something much bigger than myself and I’m so glad and thankful for the opportunity to share my journey to Robinhood now.

Tell us about your career growth so far at Robinhood.

When I first started out at Robinhood, I was on the New Accounts team and was responsible for reviewing and processing new account applications. I loved helping customers open their accounts with us! I became a trainer to help new teammates in onboarding and then began working on projects for our Cash Management product. About a year after joining Robinhood, the Asset Movements team was formed, and I was asked to help build the team. I was so excited for a new adventure, and quickly learned skills in asset transfers and payment operations. My latest project was account transfers (ACATS) and now I am the lead for the ACATs team. Along with that, I am involved in different employee resource groups (ERGs) as a member, and I help lead the Sisterhood+ ERG in my local office. I love getting to engage and encourage the women and allies in my community, and celebrate all of the successes we accomplish together!

What’s one project you’re proud of?

I’m really proud of the work done for the launch of our ACATs in product. It has been so inspiring to get to work with many talented and intelligent individuals across the company. I have learned so much about being a good business partner and leader from sitting in different strategy meetings and I am humbled to have a place at the table for my input. It’s super exciting to have firsthand impact in helping more and more customers transfer their assets into our platform and see our business grow!

Our mission is to democratize finance for all. What does our mission mean to you?

Our mission is one I resonate with so much because as a young immigrant woman — I never fit the stereotype of the “Wall Street investor”. Robinhood’s inception disrupted the finance sphere and helped to provide everyone a chance to become an investor. As we say — “at Robinhood, the rich don’t get a better deal”. I love that we treat all of our customers with empathy and our goal is to help them invest no matter how much or how little they have to invest with. To me, democratizing finance for all means providing access to all people — no matter who they are or where they come from — a chance to invest for themselves and their future through opening the doors to the previously unattainable stock market.

What is your favorite Robinhood value?

Participation is Power is my favorite Robinhood value. One person might not be able to change the whole world, but they have more power than they think. The ripple effect that one person can make by participating, and stepping out of their comfort zone can literally change their future and their legacy.

I believe knowledge is power. One of my favorite ways to invest in myself is by challenging myself to learn and never stop learning. From achieving industry licenses, reading books on influential people, or expanding my knowledge of the world we are living in. I never want to stop learning and being curious!
