Beginning Sept. 8, Robinhood will begin routing a selection of football event contracts to Crypto.com’s prediction markets platform through its CFTC-regulated exchange and clearinghouse
Through the first 8 months of the year, prediction markets at Robinhood are seeing record revenues and volumes. In Q2 alone, there were 13.6 billion event contracts traded on Robinhood, and during the World Cup alone more than 5 billion contracts traded. In June, we also started routing contracts to Rothera, a CFTC-licensed exchange and clearinghouse independently managed through Robinhood's joint venture with Susquehanna International Group, to bring even greater diversity to our marketplace.
Today, we're building on that momentum as we team up with Crypto.com to begin routing a selection of event contracts to its CFTC-regulated exchange and clearinghouse in time for the start of the Pro Football season. The CFTC-regulated exchange and clearinghouse does business in the Crypto.com App under the brand Crypto.com | Derivatives North America (CDNA) and also a separate trader-focused App under the brand OG.com. We’ll start routing a selection of football contracts to OG.com beginning on Sept. 8.
As part of the deal, Robinhood Markets will hold equity stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com following the latter’s spin-off as an independent trading platform. The equity will be priced in line with the recent investment of Citadel Securities into Crypto.com Group at a $20 billion valuation.
"Routing event contracts to multiple venues helps create a stronger, more diverse and resilient marketplace," said JB Mackenzie, VP and GM of Futures and Prediction Markets at Robinhood. "With football back and midterms fast approaching, we’re thrilled to team up with Crypto.com and OG.com for what is sure to be an exciting fall for prediction markets on Robinhood."
“This is the beginning of a strategic partnership between both companies,” said Kris Marszalek, Founder and CEO of Crypto.com and OG.com. “We’re looking forward to making OG.com the most liquid venue globally for innovative derivative instruments, starting with prediction markets and quickly expanding into futures and perpetuals.”
While event contracts on Robinhood will still also be routed to Kalshi, ForecastEX, and Rothera, the deal with Crypto.com and OG.com comes just in time to help bolster our football prediction markets hub.
A New Season for College and Pro Football
In addition to routing a selection of contracts to OG.com, both the Pro and College Football trading experiences are getting a new look. The experience features better live data along with a dedicated trading hub that allows customers to easily filter contracts by week, team, conference, and more. Player stats and team standing data will be coming later this fall.
Pro Football Event Contracts are Trading on RobinhoodThis season, customers will also have access to a wider variety of contracts, including contracts on game outcomes, player contracts, custom combos, and more. College and Pro Football contracts will be routed to a combination of OG.com, Kalshi, and Rothera based on a number of factors, including what’s available at each exchange.
U.S. Midterms Hub
Separate from the deal with Crypto.com and OG.com and just in time for the 2026 midterms, we’re launching our most robust election offering yet, with a dedicated election hub that gives customers quick and intuitive access to the markets affecting them at both the state and federal level. As part of the effort, we’ll also launch new, interactive heat maps directly within the hub to make it easy for customers to see exactly how well each candidate is doing at each level of government, coming later this fall. Once polls close, we’ll bring near real-time voting data right to the experience, showing how many votes have been counted and what percent of total expected votes that represents.
The US Midterm Elections are now Trading on RobinhoodThose following closely in 2024 may have noticed that the “wisdom of the crowd” confidently predicted the outcome of the 2024 presidential election before the race was officially called at the polls. We believe that observing these midterm prediction markets in real time will be another valuable tool for investors to stay informed early and often in the lead up to, and through election night.
Midterm election contracts are currently routed to both Kalshi and Rothera, with potential expansion to Crypto.com and OG.com in the coming weeks.
Prediction Markets Impact
Since launching roughly two years ago, customers have traded over 45 billion contracts on Robinhood, including more than 30 billion this year through the end of August. As Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said earlier this year, “prediction markets have become the fastest growing business in our history...I think we're just at the beginning of a Prediction Markets supercycle...”
