Pay & Request
Pay & Request lets you send and receive money with other people on Robinhood. All you need is a Robinhood spending account to start using it.
Pay & Request isn’t available to everyone yet.
To begin, go to Spending and select either Pay or Request. You’ll be prompted to create a username that allows people to find you in the app. You can change your username by going to Account (person icon)→ Edit profile. You can also control your profile visibility settings.
Your privacy is important to us, so you’ll always have control over whether someone can search for you on Robinhood or not. Right now, other Robinhood customers with a spending account can search for your profile in order to send you money or request money from you. You can easily edit your profile visibility:
Your Robinhood profile shows your profile picture, username, the year you joined, and the transaction history between you and the person viewing your profile. Don’t worry, your profile doesn't show any sensitive financial or personal information. Check out Robinhood’s Privacy Policy for more details.
The first time you send money to someone, they’ll need to accept your payment. The money will immediately be withdrawn from your spending account balance and credited to the other person’s account when they accept. If they don’t accept your payment after 10 calendar days, it’ll expire and the funds will return to your spending account balance.
You can view your payments at any time in Spending or on web classic.
To avoid payment scams, make sure that you only interact with people you know and trust. For more information, check out how to identify and report scams. If you think you’re the victim of a scam or fraud, contact Robinhood Support as soon as possible.
You’ll receive a notification when the person completes your request.
You can view your requests at any time in Spending or on web classic under Recent History.
Your spending account needs to have enough money to send and complete a payment. Make sure to deposit enough money before trying to pay someone.
You can use your linked debit card or individual investing account to fund your payment. When sending a payment from your debit card or individual investing account, you’re authorizing a one-time deposit into your spending account from your debit card or individual investing account, followed by the payment out of your spending account.
To maintain your account’s security, we place limits on how much money you can send in a week. Your payment limits may vary depending on certain factors including your account and transaction history.
To check your transfer limit, go to Settings → Pay & Request → Limits. You’ll see transfer limits for the amount and frequency of money you send and receive (7-day rolling basis).
When paying and requesting money, make sure that you’re following our App Use Standards. These standards apply to all types of content on Robinhood, including your profile photo, username, and your transactions with others. Keep in mind that failing to follow these standards may result in account limitations. We strive to keep Robinhood a safe place so everyone can use our platform safely and openly.
