Downloading Your Tax Documents

Note: Please update to the latest version of the app for 2019 tax season. We made changes to the app to improve the tax experience and we don’t want you to miss out on them.

When Will My Tax Documents Be Ready?

All of your tax documents will be ready February 15th. You may receive an email before then, but please wait until February 15th for Robinhood to confirm how many Form 1099 tax documents you have, if any. Please wait to file your taxes until February 15th.

Why did I receive multiple tax documents?

Depending on the dates of your trading activity last year, you may receive more than one Form 1099 from Robinhood. If you traded cryptocurrencies last year, you may also receive an additional Form 1099 from Robinhood Crypto, LLC. Here is how to know which forms you will receive:

  • Apex IRS Form 1099:

If you had a taxable event (for example, you sold equities or options, received a referral stock, or received dividends) prior to November 9th, you will receive a Form 1099 from our former clearing partner, Apex Clearing Corp (“Apex”).

  • Robinhood Securities IRS Form 1099:

If you had a taxable event between November 10th and December 31st, you will receive a Form 1099 from Robinhood Securities, LLC, our new clearing platform.

  • Robinhood Crypto IRS Form 1099:

If you sold cryptocurrencies in 2018, you will receive separate PDF and CSV files of your Form 1099 from Robinhood Crypto, LLC for crypto activity in 2018.

Corrected Forms: If you received an updated or amended Form 1099 tax document, please make sure that you’ve filed your taxes in accordance with this updated information. This may require re-filing your taxes.

Why didn’t I receive a tax document?

You won’t receive a tax document if the proceeds from your dividends did not exceed $10 in the filing year, or if you didn’t sell stock.

What tax documents do you provide?

We provide a consolidated Form 1099 document, which includes information found on the Forms 1099-DIV, 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, and 1099-B.

How do I access my tax document?

You can access your consolidated Form 1099 in your mobile app:

  1. Tap the Account icon in bottom right corner.
  2. Tap Account Summary.
  3. Scroll down and tap Tax Documents.

Note: For large documents, our web platform may be the best way to download your tax documents.

Investors should consider the investment objectives and unique risk profile of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) carefully before investing. ETFs are subject to risks similar to those of other diversified portfolios. Leveraged and Inverse ETFs may not be suitable for all investors and may increase exposure to volatility through the use of leverage, short sales of securities, derivatives and other complex investment strategies.
Although ETFs are designed to provide investment results that generally correspond to the performance of their respective underlying indices, they may not be able to exactly replicate the performance of the indices because of expenses and other factors. A prospectus contains this and other information about the ETF and should be read carefully before investing. Customers should obtain prospectuses from issuers and/or their third party agents who distribute and make prospectuses available for review. ETFs are required to distribute portfolio gains to shareholders at year end. These gains may be generated by portfolio rebalancing or the need to meet diversification requirements. ETF trading will also generate tax consequences. Additional regulatory guidance on Exchange Traded Products can be found by clicking here.
Options transactions may involve a high degree of risk. To learn more about the risks associated with options trading, please review the options disclosure document entitled Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options, available here or through https://www.theocc.com/about/publications/character-risks.jsp.
