Benefits and fees

Robinhood Banking offers a tiered structure that tailors benefits, fees, and limits to your financial profile. As your relationship with Robinhood grows, you can unlock enhanced features, higher limits, and premier perks.

What are standard benefits vs premier benefits?

There are 2 levels of banking benefits determined by your Assets Under Custody (AUC) and direct deposit activity. Keep in mind that an annual Robinhood Gold subscription ($50) is also required to receive these benefits.

  • AUC (Assets Under Custody) = equities, crypto, and cash held in Robinhood accounts (minus liabilities)
  • Excluded: Crypto wallets (self-custodied) and margin balances

Direct deposit requirement

  • You must set up at least $1,000 in direct deposits per calendar month into your checking account to maintain or upgrade your benefits
  • Missing the direct deposit requirement for a calendar month may result in a downgrade
  • Direct deposits must go into your Robinhood checking account to qualify for benefits
  • Without direct deposit, you don’t earn any interest (0% APY) on your Robinhood checking account. For your savings account, you can still earn 3.5% APY, but only if you have an active annual Robinhood Gold subscription ($50).

New accounts

  • All new accounts receive a 60 day preview of either standard or premier benefits based on their current AUC
  • After that, you must meet both AUC thresholds and direct deposit requirements to retain your benefits

Benefit reassessment

  • Upgrades: Assessed daily at the close of the US market, based on the higher of current AUC or 90-day rolling average
  • Downgrades: Checked once at the beginning of each month, based on the 90-day rolling average

Joint accounts & child accounts

Benefits are based on the combined AUC of both account holders.

Transfer & transaction limits

You can view your transfer and transaction limits in your app. Go to MenuBankingTransfer limits. You may receive a verification call from someone on the Credit support team for large transfers for security reasons.

FAQ

Can I still receive benefits if I only get paid seasonally or during periods of unemployment?

We know pay can come in at different frequencies. If you have had a direct deposit of $1,000 or more in your account in this calendar month or in any of the last 3 calendar months, you can still receive interest in your account.

What if my direct deposit hasn't reached $1,000 a month yet?

If your direct deposit is less than $1,000 in a calendar month:

  • You won’t earn interest (0% APY) on your checking account for that month.
  • Your savings account can still earn 3.5% APY if you have an active annual Robinhood Gold subscription.
  • Missing the $1,000 direct deposit requirement may also result in a downgrade of your banking benefits and limits.

However, if your first ever direct deposit is less than $1,000, we'll waive the requirement for that first month plus the 2 months right after.
