About BTG

Bitcoin Gold was developed as a fork from the original Bitcoin blockchain and was designed to update Bitcoin’s consensus mechanism, allowing users to employ graphics processing units (GPUs) and lowering the barrier to entry for new miners. This fork was also used to switch to the same Equihash-based mining algorithm used by Zcash. Bitcoin Gold was announced in late July 2017.
