Event contract taxes, reports, and statements
Your event contract activity is tracked across your account's transaction history, and your gains and losses are reported on your annual statement.
To view your event contract P&L:
Keep in mind that this view doesn't include fees.
For positions you closed before expiration, your P&L is the difference between your sale proceeds and your purchase cost. For positions held to settlement, your P&L is either $1 per contract (if your outcome was correct) or $0 per contract (if it wasn't), minus your purchase cost.
You can view 1W, 1M, 3M, YTD, and MAX time period contract performance in the P&L section. These figures reflect settled and closed positions within the selected time period. They may not exactly match your broker statement due to the timing of settlements.
To view individual event contract transactions:
This view shows all trades, payouts, and fees.
Several factors can cause the P&L that’s shown in the app or on the statement to differ from what you calculated:
Your annual statement is the authoritative record of all costs, proceeds, and net P&L for the year.
You'll receive an event contracts annual statement after the end of each calendar year, typically in late January or early February. The statement includes a detailed view of all event contracts you traded during the year:
To access your annual statement, go to Account, select Reports and statements, then navigate to Annual reports.
The annual statement is not a substitute tax reporting form. Consult with a qualified tax professional for guidance on how to use this information on your tax return.
