Canceling or closing an event contract trade
If you placed an event contract order and want to cancel or exit your position, your options depend on whether the order has already been filled.
If your order is still pending, you may be able to cancel it:
If the order has already been filled, cancellation isn't possible, even for an accidental order. Event contract trades are final once executed. The exchange matches your order with a counterparty immediately, and Robinhood can't cancel or reverse a completed trade.
If your position is still open, you may be able to close it by selling your contracts at the current market price.
Closing your position early may result in a gain or loss depending on how the market price has moved since your purchase:
At settlement, the contract pays $1 if your outcome is correct or $0 if it isn't. There's no other exit.
To close a combo position, go to Your positions, select the open combo position, and select Close position. Because combos use FOK orders, the entire combo must fill or it cancels. If there are no other participants to take the other side of the trade, closing trades may be unavailable.
The app may allow you to submit certain custom combo orders without blocking conflicting selections. Once the order fills, it's final. You may be able to exit combo positions if the market is still open, but the trade itself can't be reversed or refunded.
Before any event contract order is submitted, the app shows an order review screen with your position details, price, and fees. Review this screen carefully before swiping to submit.
Using GTD (good-til-date) limit orders lets you set a specific price you're willing to pay. This gives you more control over your entry price and helps you avoid filling at an unexpected price in a fast-moving market.
