Intraday margin
Intraday margin may give you up to twice the buying power you get with standard margin during regular market hours, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET on trading days. Positions that use intraday margin must satisfy standard overnight margin requirements to remain open after market close. If a position is still open after market close and you don’t meet those requirements, you may be issued a margin call.
Enabling intraday margin buying power increases leverage and market risk, and can magnify gains and losses including losses greater than your initial investment. Review the Intraday Margin Disclosure for details.
To use intraday margin, you need:
Intraday margin isn't available for retirement, custodial, managed, trust, or agentic accounts.
You can't turn intraday buying power off while you're actively using it. You’ll need to close positions or deposit funds to satisfy standard overnight margin requirements.
During market hours, intraday buying power appears under your Buying power balance. When you place an order that goes beyond your standard buying power, the order screen lets you know it will use intraday buying power. A few things to note:
When you use intraday buying power, your standard margin buying power will display as a negative value. This is the amount you need to restore by market close to avoid a margin call. You can restore your buying power by closing positions or depositing funds.

From here, you’ll see the time left until market close, your amount to restore, and how much each position would add to your buying power if you close it.
Intraday buying power ends when the market closes at 4:00 PM ET. On days when the market closes early, intraday buying power ends at the early close. After market close, standard margin requirements apply to your account.
You may receive a margin call or intraday margin deficit if you don't restore your buying power before the market closes. To resolve this, you can deposit funds or close positions. While you are in a call or deficit, Robinhood may close positions in your account to help satisfy it.
Push notifications can alert you if you're still using intraday buying power as market close approaches. These are enabled by default and can be managed by following these steps:
Your account may be limited to cash available trading for 90 calendar days if you repeatedly don't resolve an intraday margin deficit, which can occur when you're still using intraday buying power at market close.
While your account is limited to cash available trading:
To avoid this restriction, resolve any intraday margin deficit promptly by depositing funds or closing positions.
