What to expect from your first advisor meeting

You can use this app link to sign up with an independent advisor. When you sign up for the Advisor Network service, we’ll ask you a few questions about yourself and your investing goals. Based on your answers, we’ll give you a curated list of independent advisors who are affiliated with participating investment advisory firms to schedule a meeting.

For more details about how this service works, check out Advisor Network FAQ.

Note

This is part of a rolling release and might not be available to you just yet.

What to expect

You can meet with one or more of the recommended independent advisors at no cost to you. Once you find the right fit, you and your advisor will set your fees together. Keep in mind you’ll need a minimum of $250,000 in investable assets, such as cash and liquid investments, that can be managed by the advisor you select.

Your first advisor call will likely be a discovery meeting, a chance to get to know each other, and decide if it’s a good fit. The advisor will have already reviewed what you shared before you connect (your priorities, profile, and account holdings). They'll use the meeting to understand what actually matters to you, not just your numbers.

You can evaluate and meet with matched advisors for up to 6 months before confirming your relationship with an advisor. After that, your access to the Advisor Network in the app will expire. You'll need to complete onboarding again and re-sign the agreement to continue.

How to prepare

  • Add context to your goals: Think about what else you'd like your advisor to know about the priorities and life events you've already shared.
  • Share your story: Bring details that aren't in your profile yet, such as your family situation, career path, tolerance for risk, financial circumstances, and past investing experience.
  • Think about how you'd like to work together: Consider your communication preferences, how often you'd like to meet, and how hands-on you want to be.

When the meeting starts, you can join with the video meeting link provided in the email or in-app notification. You can always reschedule your meeting if anything comes up.

How to schedule your first advisor meeting

After reviewing the list of advisors in the app, do the following to schedule your first meeting with them:

  1. Select an advisor from your list, and then select Book meeting
  2. Select a date and time, and then select Continue
  3. When prompted, share any goals, topics, or questions you’d like to discuss to make the most of your first meeting, and then select Continue
  4. Review and confirm the meeting details, select Edit for any needed changes, and then select Book meeting, and we’ll email you the meeting details

Reschedule or cancel an upcoming meeting

You can reschedule an upcoming advisor meeting:

  1. Open the View meeting details link we sent you via email or in the app, go to Meetings
  2. Select the upcoming meeting that’s listed, and then select Reschedule meeting or Cancel meeting
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to either reschedule or cancel the meeting

Select an advisor to work with

After your first meeting, we’ll ask you to confirm if you want to work with the advisor you met with:

  1. Open the in-app or email notification that we sent you
  2. Select Confirm or Not now
  3. If you select confirm, you’ll be prompted to either:
  • Agree and continue to confirm a few details to help streamline account setup, or you can enter these details later by selecting Enter manually later
  • Select a different advisor to meet with from the suggested list or select Explore more advisors to view other advisors in the network
  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to securely share the details you entered, review and sign any required documents, and/or to schedule a meeting with your selected advisor or a new advisor
