FAQ

What information is needed for me to apply?

You’ll need to provide your full name, social security number, email, date of birth, phone number, residential address, and annual estimated income. If you have any trouble during this process, you can select Get Help in your application to contact the Credit support team directly.

How can I update information within my application?

You can go back and edit any previously entered information by selecting the back arrow in the application process at any time prior to accepting our Terms and Conditions. Once you accept the Terms and Conditions, you won’t be able to return to previous parts of the application to edit your information. If you’re unable to manually make changes on your own, you can select Get Help in your application to contact the Credit support team directly.

Is there an annual fee for the card?

The Gold Card has no annual fee, however, it’s only available to those with an annual Robinhood Gold subscription. If you’re not currently a Robinhood Gold member, once your application is approved and you accept the Cardholder Agreement, you’ll be upgraded to Robinhood Gold. There is an annual subscription fee for Gold which will be charged to your Gold Card upon accepting the Cardholder Agreement. If you’re already a Robinhood Gold member, we’ll refund a prorated fee for your current subscription to your individual investing account, and then charge the new annual fee to your Gold Card within your first billing cycle.

Why do I need to download another app to view my Robinhood Gold Credit Card?

The Robinhood Gold Credit Card has its own separate app: the Robinhood Credit app for iOS and Android. This ensures you have one app specifically for investing (the Robinhood app) and another for day-to-day spending (the Credit Card app). Switching between the 2 apps is a seamless experience. You’ll be using the same credentials you use for the Robinhood app to log into the Credit Card app. Cash back rewards can also immediately be deposited into your individual investing account, if you choose to transfer them.

If you have trouble logging in, go to My account and login for troubleshooting. If you still need help, contact Robinhood Support.

Note

The Credit Card app is available for download even before you apply for the Gold Card, however you won’t be able to log in to the app until you become a cardholder.

When can I start using my Gold Card after I’m approved?

Right away! After you’re approved, download the Robinhood Credit Card app on iOS or Android. You can sign in using your Robinhood app login credentials. You’ll find your virtual card number by selecting Card Details on the Gold Card pictured on the home tab. You’ll need to use your secure verification method (Face/Touch ID, passcode, etc.) to view your card details. You can start spending immediately using your virtual card details online or via your mobile wallet until your physical card arrives in the mail. You can add your virtual card directly to your mobile wallet in the app by selecting your Gold CardApple/Samsung/Google Wallet.

Note

There’s currently no web interface for the Gold Card and you can only access your Gold Card account through the Robinhood Credit Card app. A web interface is coming soon!

How can I get the solid gold card?

If you refer 10 friends who join the waitlist and sign up for Robinhood Gold, once your application is approved, you’ll be eligible for the solid gold Robinhood Gold Card—weighing 36g and made from real 10K gold! After you join the waitlist, you’ll be able to invite friends to join the waitlist and then upgrade directly from Spending in the Robinhood app. A referral is counted once your referee makes their first Gold subscription payment.

Limitations and terms apply. Check out our referral program terms and conditions for more details.

Note

This is currently our only referral program for the Robinhood Credit Card.

How do referrals work?

If you refer 10 friends who join the Gold Card waitlist and sign up for Robinhood Gold, you can earn the solid gold Robinhood Gold Card—weighing 36g and made from real 10K gold! To refer someone, go to SpendingInvite Friends. This allows you to send a waitlist invite link directly to your referral. Keep in mind that your referral needs to join the Robinhood Gold Card Waitlist before upgrading to Robinhood Gold. The email used to join the waitlist will need to be the same email associated with their Robinhood account to be accurately tracked. After joining the waitlist, your referral will see the option to upgrade to Robinhood Gold directly in their Robinhood app. If they're not a Robinhood customer yet, they'll be able to join Robinhood and then upgrade to Gold directly from the waitlist sign up page. A referral is counted once your referee joins the Gold Card Waitlist, upgrades to Robinhood Gold and makes their first Gold subscription payment.

If there has been a change in your referrals, you’ll receive an email notification update that includes how many referrals have joined the waitlist and upgraded to Gold, and a separate email notification indicating how many referrals have paid their first subscription fee and count towards your 10 total. These notifications keep you up to date with your progress towards your 10 Gold referrals.

Note

This is currently our only referral program for the Robinhood Credit Card.

Will there be a hard pull on my credit report if I’m approved?

Yes. We do a soft pull at the beginning of the application process, but once you accept the Cardholder Agreement at the end of the application, we perform a hard pull. You’ll also be made aware of the hard pull within the application before you accept our Terms and Conditions and become a cardholder.

Can I get a higher limit than initially offered?

No, once your credit limit is initially offered, it can’t be adjusted or re-evaluated. Once you become a cardholder, you’ll be evaluated for limit increases automatically. You’ll be notified if your account becomes eligible.

You can boost your likelihood for an increase by:

  • Making on-time payments
  • Paying more than the minimum amount due each month
  • Continuing to use your card to complete transactions

You’ll have more information in the Robinhood Credit Card app once you’re a cardholder.

Why does my application say it's expired?

Application invitations expire 14 days after they’re sent out. If you’re unable to apply within this timeframe, you won’t be able to continue with your application. At this time, we aren’t currently accepting reapplication requests, but we do plan on offering this in the near future. Once this is available, if you’re eligible, you’ll receive a new invitation to apply.

Why was I denied?

You’ll receive an email titled Adverse action notice that contains information regarding our decision within 7 days after completing your application. Refer to this email to learn more about our decision and note that our support team won’t have additional details to share outside of what is provided in the email. You’ll be notified if you’re able to reapply.

Can I reapply for the Gold Card if I'm not approved?

You may be eligible to reapply at a later date. At this time, we aren’t currently accepting reapplication requests, but we do plan on offering this in the near future. Once this is available, if you’re eligible, you’ll receive a new invitation to apply.

What do I do if I’m having trouble completing my application?

If the troubleshooting steps given in the application aren’t resolving your issue, you can select Get Help in your application to contact the Credit support team directly.

I was notified my application is being reviewed—how long does this take?

Our review should take no longer than a few business days. While an application is under review, our Credit Card support team is unable to provide details on the subject of the review or an estimated timeline for completion. We highly value security and are unable to share these details in order to keep your information safe. A notification will be sent once the review has been completed.

Why am I getting an error on my shipping address?

We’re only able to accept shipping addresses in a certain format. If you’re not entering your address in this format, you may be getting stuck. The application will provide suggestions to help edit your address format. If after trying these suggestions you’re still unable to proceed, you can review these additional steps to try before contacting the Credit support team:

  • Does your address include long or common street names like “Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard”? In this example, try shortening the street name to “MLK Jr Blvd.” Note that words like “boulevard" or “street” or “court” need to be abbreviated in general: Blvd, St, Ct.
  • Similarly, if there are directional words within the address, like “Northwest, Southwest, Northeast, Southeast,” abbreviate these to (NW, SW, NE, SE).
  • Does the street name include any letters with accents? Accent letters aren’t supported.
    • Example: “RIO CANCIÓN” needs to be changed to “RIO CANCION”
  • Has your street been renamed recently? If so, make sure to include the most updated street name in your address.
  • If you’re still having trouble, try entering your full 9-digit zip code instead of just the 5-digit code.

If you’re still unable to continue after following the steps above, you can select Get Help in your application to contact the Credit support team directly.

Can I ship my card to a PO box?

No, we can only ship to a valid U.S. residential address and are unable to ship to PO boxes. If you encounter any trouble when entering your shipping address you can select Get Help in your application to contact the Credit support team directly.

Can I apply for the Robinhood Gold Credit Card if I don’t live in the U.S.?

No, only U.S. residents who reside in 1 of the 50 United States can apply.

I’m also an X1 Card cardholder, will my X1 card stop working if I get the Robinhood Card?

No, everything will remain the same with your X1 account and won’t be affected by the Robinhood Gold Card. These are 2 separate credit cards and the X1 Card will continue to be functional for all current X1 customers.

If you’re still unable to continue after following the steps above, you can select Get Help in your application to contact the Credit Card support team directly.
