Coming back to Robinhood
If you'd like to start investing with Robinhood again, you'll need to reactivate your account. Once reactivated, sign in with the email and password associated with your original account.
If you've forgotten your password, follow the steps in Change your password. If you don't know your username or password, review I can't log in.
If you recently submitted a new account application, that's not the same as reactivation. New applications go through identity verification, which takes 1–2 weeks. If your account was previously approved, please reactivate it rather than submitting a new application, as duplicate applications will be rejected. You'll get an email when your account is ready. Check out What you need to get started for more details.
Only individual investing accounts can be reactivated in the app or on the web. Other account types require assistance from our Support team.
Reactivation requests may take up to 5 days to process and you’ll get an email when your account is fully reactivated. If we need more information, you'll get an in-app notification or email detailing what to submit.
Some account states aren't eligible for self-serve reactivation. If the reactivate account option isn't available in-app, 1 of the following reasons may apply:
Your account may be on hold due to a B-notice from the IRS or an incomplete W-9 on file. You'll need to resolve the tax certification issue before reactivation is possible.
If there's an unresolved identity verification issue related to your Social Security card or a name discrepancy, self-serve reactivation won't be available until it's resolved.
If your account was flagged in connection with a sanctions review, reactivation requires a manual review by our compliance team. Self-serve reactivation is not available in this state.
If your account has a negative balance that was written off, you'll need to resolve the balance before reactivating. When you contact support, mention your account balance so we can confirm what's owed and next steps.
If you transferred all assets out of your account via ACATS and the account was subsequently closed, reactivation may require you to wait 21 days after the ACAT’s settlement date.
Accounts that have been inactive for an extended period may enter a dormancy state. Reactivation of dormant accounts requires support assistance and may involve additional identity verification steps.
If self-serve reactivation isn't available, contact Support and we'll let you know what's needed. Don't submit a new account application if you have an existing account as this may cause delays.
Once your account is reactivated, you can sign in with your original credentials and resume investing. Your account history and settings will be restored. Welcome back!
