Cash back on gas and groceries | Robinhood

Cash back on gas and groceries

Earn 2% cash back on eligible purchases at gas stations and grocery stores.

Note

Cash back is only valid at traditional gas stations and grocery stores. May be combined with other cash card offers. Purchases at Walmart or Target aren’t eligible for 2% cash back.

Am I eligible?

You must have one of the following:

  • An active direct deposit relationship that adds up to $300 from the past 30 days
  • One or more recurring ACH deposit schedules that add up to $300 from the past 30 days

How do I set up a direct deposit?

Check out How to set up direct deposit to choose an option and follow the steps.

A direct deposit can take up to 1-2 pay cycles for your paycheck to be deposited into your spending account. As soon as you have successfully set up your direct deposit, and while you wait for your first paycheck to land, you’ll be eligible to earn 2% cash back on gas & grocery purchases. To remain eligible, your direct deposit must total $300 or more for the last 30 days.

How do I set up recurring deposits?

Follow the steps in Set up recurring deposits.

To remain eligible, you need to have maintained recurring deposit schedules of $300 or more for the last 30 days.

What transactions or MCC codes are eligible?

Gas and grocery transactions are subject to the category code applied by the merchant at the point of sale. For cash back on gas and groceries, the only eligible category codes are 5542 (automated fuel dispensers) and 5411 (grocery stores and supermarkets). Online purchases are also subject to varying MCC codes and may not be eligible in certain scenarios.

When will I receive the cash back?

Eligible transactions will receive cash back once the transaction has settled. Keep in mind, pending transactions can take up a few days to settle. When the transactions have settled, the cash back funds will be applied to your spending account balance.

Limitations

You will earn cash back on up to $500 of purchases at gas stations and grocery stores each month. Other limitations apply. See full Offer terms.

Why did I stop earning cash back?

  • You reached the $500 monthly spend limit in the gas and grocery store category.

  • You canceled, or failed to reach the $300 monthly direct deposit requirement.

  • You canceled, or failed to reach the $300 monthly recurring ACH deposit requirement.

Offer terms

Offer valid for purchase transactions only. It may be combined with other offers. Cash back is awarded for the individual’s first $500 of eligible purchases made per calendar month. Purchases made after the $500 limit has been reached will not receive cash back. Eligible gas and grocery transactions are subject to the category code applied by the merchant at the point of sale. Eligible category codes include 5542 (Automated Fuel Dispensers) and 5411 (Grocery Stores and Supermarkets). Purchases must be at least $1 to be eligible. Purchases made at Target and Walmart are ineligible for this promotion. Eligible direct deposits or recurring deposits must equal at least $300 per month on a rolling monthly basis. The rolling month period begins when the first deposit has landed in the spending account. This offer is provided on an as-is and as available basis without warranty of any kind.
