Token usage billing
Every message you send your agent uses tokens. When you open your first Agentic account, you’ll receive $5 in tokens to get started. You can buy more tokens as you continue working with your agent or turn on automatic top-ups to add to your balance when it runs low.
This information applies only to agents hosted on Robinhood, not external agents.
You pay for token usage with a prepaid dollar balance. As you chat with your agent, the cost of each completed response is deducted from that balance. Your free starting balance is used before any tokens you purchase. You can buy more tokens as needed or enable automatic top-ups.
The cost of a message depends on the tokens used to respond and the model you’ve selected. Robinhood charges the model’s public token cost, rounded to the nearest cent, after your agent responds. Switching models may change how much your messages cost.
We provide an estimated range of messages per dollar to help you understand how much usage you may get from your balance. When you buy tokens, you can review the estimated message range for your purchase amount. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed number of messages.
You can buy more tokens anytime from your agent’s Usage settings. Token purchases are paid from eligible buying power in your primary individual investing account. Other Robinhood accounts and external funding sources aren’t supported.
To buy tokens from Agent settings:
You must purchase at least $1 in tokens at a time. We’ll email you a confirmation after a successful purchase, including purchases made through automatic top-ups.
Automatic top-ups let you choose an amount to purchase when your balance runs low, so you don’t have to buy more tokens manually each time. Robinhood triggers an automatic top-up when your balance reaches $1. You choose the purchase amount.
To turn on automatic top-ups:
You can change your top-up amount or turn off automatic top-ups anytime in Agent Settings.
Automatic top-ups require enough eligible buying power in your primary individual investing account to cover the full purchase amount. If you don’t have enough, the purchase won’t go through.
If an automatic top-up fails, we’ll email you.
If automatic top-ups are off, you’ll see a notification in chat when your token balance starts running low. Select Buy more from the notification to purchase additional tokens, or buy them from Agent Settings.
You need a minimum balance to send a new message. If your balance falls below that minimum, you’ll need to buy more tokens before you can continue chatting, even if your balance hasn’t reached $0.
You don’t need to worry about overspending your balance. If a message costs more than your remaining balance, you won’t owe the difference. You’ll only ever spend as much as you’ve purchased in tokens.
To review your usage, navigate to Agent Settings (gear icon) and scroll down to Usage. From there, you can review these stats:
Daily usage is calculated using midnight in your local time zone. The 7-day average excludes today because the day is still in progress.
To review your token purchases, select Purchase history. Purchases and refunds also appear in your account history and statements, while your balance and daily usage details are available in Agent settings.
Your agent is powered by an AI model. You can choose a model when you create your agent and change it later in Agent settings. Models can differ in their response speed, reasoning capability, and token costs, so changing models may affect both your agent’s responses and how much usage you get from your balance.
When you switch models, subsequent messages use the newly selected model, including messages you send after reopening an existing chat. You can see the model currently powering your chat in the disclosure at the bottom of the chat.
For more information about models and token usage, review the provider documentation from OpenAI and Anthropic.
You aren’t charged for a failed prompt or an incomplete response.
Robinhood Agents lets you build your own AI agent in the Robinhood app and connect it to a dedicated, self-directed Robinhood account. You choose the LLM model that runs your agent, and you set the instructions and limits that apply. Agents can research markets, analyze holdings, and place trades based on the instructions you provide.
Robinhood Agents and its supporting technology are provided by Robinhood Labs, LLC (“RHL”), a technology company. RHL is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, futures commission merchant, or money transmitter; does not provide investment advice or recommendations; and does not hold customer funds or securities or execute transactions. Brokerage, cryptocurrency, futures and derivatives services are provided by the applicable registered Robinhood affiliates.
Agentic accounts come with trade approvals settings which you can configure to allow automated trade execution. With approvals on, your agent cannot place an order until you approve it. You can turn trade approvals off, and if you do, your agent can place orders without asking you to confirm each one. Engaging with agentic trading entails inherent risks regarding investment outcomes and third-party data policies.
You assume all risk for trades executed by AI agents and for any use of your data by third-party LLM providers. Robinhood does not control, supervise, monitor, recommend, or audit agents.
Agentic trading involves significant risk, including the possible loss of your entire investment. AI-driven strategies may perform poorly under certain market conditions, move quickly, and be difficult to monitor or stop in real time. Your agent can only trade in its dedicated agentic account and cannot trade in other Robinhood accounts. You can pause your agent's automations or disconnect it at any time. This product may not be appropriate for all investors.
AI agents can make errors, misinterpret instructions, act on incomplete or outdated information, and may behave in unexpected ways. Robinhood does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any agent output and is not responsible for your agent's output or for investment losses in your agentic account. Customers are responsible for reviewing account activity, monitoring positions, and ensuring the agent is operating as intended.
